In California, the San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant has a Science/Visitors
Center that explains nuclear physics in a friendly sort of way. It was mostly
built to calm fears by the locals who were worried by what an earthquake might
do to the plant and its reactor. The Center has obviously done its job well,
since no one ever brings up this plant in discussions about nuclear power in
California.
