The Park City History and Heritage Internship

The Park City Historical Society & Museum in Park City, Utah is seeking a
History and Heritage Collections intern. The successful candidate will assist
with the museum’s growing collection. The intern will become well-versed in
cataloguing, inventory, digital photography, basic conservation and rehousing
of the museum’s collection.

Specific projects the intern will be involved in are digitizing and cataloging
historic photographs and a large collection move to an off-site storage. The
museum collection, totaling more than 27,000 items, is remarkably diverse in
type and size, with objects as large as a stagecoach and as fragile as
the “Silver Queen’s” lace dresses.

The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, a basic
knowledge and experience with artifact handling techniques, and some
understanding of museum management procedures. He or she must be able to
climb ladders and lift up to 40 lbs. A bachelor’s degree in History, American
Studies, Museum Studies, or in a closely related field is required. Some
graduate training in Museum Studies preferred.

Internships last from 8 to 10 weeks. The stipend for this internship is $2,400
for 8 weeks (40 hrs/week).
