The Valentine Museum presents its Federal Forays symposium 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m.,
March 15, 1997, at the museum in Richmond, Virginia.

<Forming a Nation: Life and Issues in the New Republic>

Long overlooked by historians, the period of the nation's formation
was particularly rich in Virginia's new capital, where many of the ideas
that crafted the United States originated. Several of the country's
founders were Virginians who were proud for their successes to be reflected
nationally. Federal Forays examines this flourishing political and economic
era at the site of the elegant home of a prominent Richmond citizen, the
1812 Wickham House at the Valentine Museum, just blocks from Jefferson's
majestic Capitol.
