Collections Manager

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the world's finest museums, seeks a 
Collections Manager to act as the primary liaison between the European Sculpture and Decorative Arts Department, The Collections Management Department, and the Computer Liaison Group.  This person works with various members of the department to coordinate many aspects of collections management including acquisition, deaccessioning, loan, inventory, movement, and documentation of the department's extensive objects collection.  This position is responsible for coordinating outgoing and incoming departmental loans, including special exhibitions; digitally photographing and scanning incoming objects, newly accessioned works, and gallery installations for departmental collections staff; handling works of art as needed; coordinating with departmental technicians on tracking location changes; maintaining records in the museum collection management system; coordinating annual inventory and maintaining all related records; and other related duties as required. 

Successful candidates will have previous experience in a collections management and/or museum technical environment.  Able to work simultaneously on a variety of projects is required.  Able to work with a variety of personalities and levels of technological proficiency is required.  Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications, various databases, and digital imaging and internet technologies is required.  BA or BS degree is required; MA in Art History preferred.  Decorative Arts background preferred.  Knowledge of collections management software is preferred.
