Sarah,
I just returned from a vacation in Chicago, and did see the Dead Sea Scrolls
exhibit at the Field Museum. Ididn't know much about the scrolls before, but
I thought the exhibit was very informative and well-done, with artifacts
from the area and a lot of explanation about the discovery and history of
the scrolls. There's also a booth at the back of the exhibit with a real
live conservator working on pieces of the scroll, and text about
conservation.
I'm not sure how much longer the exhibit is on, you might want to call them
or visit their website to be sure a detour isn't wasted!
