EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The American Swedish Historical Museum, founded in 1926, is seeking an
Executive Director who will lead the planning and implementation for all
aspects of the museum.  The Executive Director is responsible for managing
the collection, developing special exhibitions and educational programs, and
for leading fundraising initiatives.  The person will work with the staff,
membership and volunteers, and report directly to the Board of Governors.

Qualifications include demonstrated leadership, strong interpersonal skills,
experience in fundraising and development, and competence in budget and
financial management.  The person must possess excellent communication
skills.  An advanced degree would be desirable.  Museum or other nonprofit
background is preferable, and an expressed interest in Swedish culture and
history is desirable.  EOE
