CURATOR OF EDUCATION (full-time)

William Hammond Mathers Museum, Indiana University

The William Hammond Mathers Museum is seeking a Curator of Education to
develop and implement formal and informal educational programs for
school children, university students, and the general public.  Programs
include tours, public events, lectures, workshops, and outreach.  The
Curator of Education assists in exhibit development, supervises
practicum students and volunteers, manages a hands-on education
collection, serves as a liaison to community schools and organizations,
and works collaboratively in a team-based museum organization.  

QUALIFICATIONS:  Required: Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, History,
Folklore, or Education; strong communication skills; and ability to
recruit, train, and supervise support staff.  Preferred:  Master's
degree, classroom teaching and/or museum education experience.  Please
include a cover letter and resume with your online application and list
the contact information for three references on your resume. Application
deadline is March 1, 2003. 

MATHERS MUSEUM:  The William Hammond Mathers Museum is Indiana
University's museum of world cultures. Through its collections,
exhibits, and programs, the Museum is dedicated to preserving and
promoting knowledge of the world's cultures. In all of its activities,
the Museum strives to further its audiences' understanding of both the
diversity of the world's specific cultures and the underlying unity of
culture as a human phenomenon.
