Pay Range: $11.00 per hour

Description:

Shawnee Town 1929, a living history museum which interprets Shawnee in the
1920's is seeking a graduate level student for a 12 week paid internship.
The internship will run mid May - mid August. The Shawnee Town 1929 Museum
engages visitors through programs, events, guided tours, exhibits, hands-on
activities and third person
interpretation. The intern will work directly with the Museum's Curator of
Education 18 hours per week, Tuesday - Saturday, mid-May through
mid-August. The intern will experience and gain a working knowledge of the
educational process at a living history museum and will be given the
opportunity to assist with projects related to the museum profession.

Position Summary
   Assist in third person interpretation of the site for museum visitors.
   (Period attire will be provided.)
   Give guided tours on a daily basis to the general public.
   Assist the Curator of Education with planning and programming.
   Complete a written report detailing and analyzing their intern
   experience.
   Develop a sample interpretive station for a town business.

 Position Requirements
   Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in History,
   Museum Studies, Education or a related field.
   Currently enrolled in a graduate level program at an accredited college
   or university studying History, 	   Museum Studied, Education or a
   related field.
   Excellent communication skills.
   Ability to speak in front of groups of all ages.
   Must be dependable and reliable.
   Able to work in an outdoor work environment.
   Successful completion of a background investigation and post-offer
   employment physical and drug screen.


The ideal intern will be flexible, organized, detail oriented with
attention to detail, customer service focused, and have the ability to
handle multiple projects. Must be proficient in MS Word. First Aid
certification a plus.
