Decatur House Museum, a historic house museum located in Washington, D.C.,
seeks a curator to be responsible for the documentation, care and
preservation, interpretation, and acquisition of the museum’s collections
of decorative and fine arts. Key job responsibilities will include
participating in design and implementation of a furnishings plan for the
home’s newly restored 1819 interior. Will work with collections and
education staff to interpret the site, buildings, and collections via
programs, exhibits, publications, etc. and will conduct and disseminate all
ongoing research. Responsible for handling all research and loan requests.

Qualifications: M.A. in History or related field, with a minimum of three
years of museum experience.  Extensive knowledge of early 19th century
American history with knowledge of decorative and fine arts and
social/cultural history.  Experience in collections care, grant writing,
public speaking and historic houses.  Computer literacy. Enthusiastic,
outgoing, hard-working.  Ability to work with a team.
