The Morton Arboretum, Lisle, Illinois, <www.mortonarb.org> is pleased to
announce the following available full-time position. 

POSITION AVAILABLE: Exhibit Developer

DEPARTMENT: Interpretation and Exhibits

SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Exempt 

GENERAL SUMMARY:  Responsible for research, development, and writing for
interpretive exhibits, and visitor activities; conducting visitor research and
evaluation related to interpretive development; and participating in
interdisciplinary staff teams as required.  

Principal responsibilities include: Exhibit concept development for Visitor Station
exhibits, garden, collection, and trailside panel exhibits, and temporary indoor
case and panel exhibits; working with contract developers, designers, landscape
architects, and fabricators; developing exhibit storylines, organizing exhibit
themes, and coordinating with designers; writing and editing exhibit labels, visitor 
handouts, and other interpretive materials; leading visitor panels (teams) and
focus groups, and conducting outcome-based evaluation of exhibit projects. 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 
Previous Training and Experience 
·     Bachelor's degree (M.A. preferred) in biology, botany, environmental
education, anthropology (ethnobotany), museum education, or related field. 
·     Ability to research subject matter, understand basic literature in the
field, and have substantive conversations with subject matter specialists.
·     3-5 years experience in exhibit development, specifically developing at
least one large exhibition from start to finish. 
·     Experience developing visitor-focused exhibitions.
·     Familiarity with literature related to science learning, visitor evaluation,
and museum exhibition.
·     Excellent writing, editing, and grammar skills.
·     Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in team environment

Physical/Mental Requirements
·     Ability to manage complex tasks
·     Ability to relate effectively with people of various cultural backgrounds, 
levels of education, and experience
·     Ability to move (includes walking) between all areas of the Arboretum,
many of which are widely spaced and on uneven terrain. 
·     Ability to lift 25 lbs

WORKING CONDITIONS
·     Indoor/outdoor environment
·     Prolonged periods of sitting and /or standing

Computer and related equipment (printer, scanner, etc.), camera (digital and
film), basic office machines.
