The Children's Museum of the Lowcountry (843/853-8962) is now looking for a

Start date:           January 1, 1999
Classification:      Full-time position with full company benefits package
Salary Range:      30K's
Job description:  The Director of Exhibits & Design will oversee, direct,
design, facilitate and construct (as necessary) all aspects of the traveling
exhibit, initial exhibits, and building renovation project for the start-up
Children's Museum of the Lowcountry (opening in the year 2000).  This
individual will create and sustain the vision of CML in all design
considerations.
Qualifications:     The successful candidate must have a minimum of 5 years
experience in design as an exhibit designer, architect or related design
profession; proven track record in working well with children in an informal
education environment; BA in exhibit design, architecture, graphic design or
related field (additional degrees preferred).  Equal opportunity employer.
Specific Pre-Opening Responsibilities include:
     *developing, designing and implementing all aspects of the traveling
exhibit: Bridging the Lowcountry (including teaching/facilitating lesson plans
on building bridges)
     *coordinating all aspects of exhibit development including design and
fabrication of exhibits (ass necessary)
     *being the in-house architect during building and site design (preparing
drawings when appropriate)
     *installing and repairing exhibits as needed
     *assisting with the coordination of all graphic design and signage
Specific Post-Operating Responsibilities include:
     *acting as visitor services manager
     *maintaining a high level of quality in the museum through evaluating
exhibits              and managing/training floor staff
