The "Palaces of St. Petersburg: Russian Imperial Style" exhibit runs
March 1-August 31, 1996, hours 9AM-10PM (last tour 8PM). Tickets
must be purchased for a specific date and time, and can be purchased
through Ticketmaster (1-800-409-9959) or at the exhibition box
office if available. The exhibit is presented at the Mississippi
Arts Pavilion in downtown Jackson. I haven't seen it yet, but
colleagues who have say it is spectacular. Those who get worked up
about The Real Thing, beware, though: the fabulous rooms are
"re-creations" done by master Russian craftspeople. The large
collection of artifacts ("over 600"), however, is stunningly
genuine. Plus there are a few other museums in Jackson!
