For our client, the Hudson River Museum, we are seeking an immediate placement of a Chief Financial Officer.  The Museum is embarking upon a major expansion and is looking for candidates with the capacity to manage and implement all aspects of financial operations during a period of significant organizational growth and change. 

The candidate we are seeking will be responsible for the Museum’s financial operations and management of all bookkeeping, accounting and financial reporting functions, including General Ledger; preparation of annual operating and capital budgets, project budgets and proposal budgets; preparation of financial statements, projections, and scenarios; implementation of computerized financial information systems and financial controls.  

The Finance Director will project and monitor cash flow, working closely with the Director, to track operating and capital expenses and to ensure fiscal compliance with a wide variety of government agencies and institutional funders. 

The Finance Director will manage all aspects of the Museum’s payroll and benefits plan, including year-end tax reporting and filing, and will act as liaison to the Museum’s insurance agents, audit firm, and other operations-related vendors as required. 

The Finance Director will also manage and supervise a bookkeeper.

The Finance Director will serve as a senior member of the Museum’s management team, and serve as primary staff to the Finance Committee of the Museum’s Board of Directors.  

The ideal candidate would have a degree in accounting, business management, or arts management and would have 5-7 years of progressively expanding responsibility and experience in the financial management of not-for-profit institutions and organizations.
