If resolution is not critical, and you have access to a Hi-8mm video
camera, you can download directly to a Power Mac 8500 without even using
tape.  That's of course if you have a MAC.  Total cost would be around
$6,000 for both and you still have a cool computer to work with when
you're not filming.  You can add sound and edit as much as you want into a
movie.  An Epson printer will provide good color output for another $500.
