Museum Educator

The Molly Brown House Museum seeks an energetic and creative Museum Educator
for a full-time salaried position.  This position is responsible for
development, coordination and implementation of all museum education
programming.  The job requires a person who is well organized and works well
in a team atmosphere.  Candidates must be able to identify program needs and
implement ideas independently.  Qualified candidates must have a Bachelors
degree in Education (other relevant degrees may be considered) and at least
two years related experience.

Job Duties:
.	Develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate all educational
programming.  This includes on-site programs, seasonal events and 11
different 	outreach programs serving the seven-county metropolitan
Denver area. 
.	Maintain positive working relationships with area educators.
.	Responsible for the scheduling and logistic coordination of programs
and educational events.
.	Develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate all adult and senior
programs.
.	Train, supervise and coordinate outreach volunteers.
.	Manage education grants and budget items related to the educational
programs.
.	Assist with the development of education marketing plans and media
including public relations, website content, brochures and mailers.
.	Presentation of programming and tours in an engaging and
professional manner.
.	Manage and maintain accurate records of all programming activities
and contacts.
.	Organize meetings for the Teacher Advisory Board.
.	Participate in the Denver Evaluation Network.
.	Maintain and update the Museum's Between the Lions blog.
.	Collaborate with Museum staff on special events, exhibits and
specialized tours.
.	Help coordinate Colorado Youth Summit in the summer of 2011.
.	Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
.	Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Education (other relevant degrees
may be considered.)
.	One year experience in a supervisory or coordination position.
.	Experience presenting in an educational setting.
.	Experience working with young audiences.
.	Excellent oral presentation, organization, written and word
processing skills.
.	Experience with budget management.
.	Experience with curriculum development.

Physical/Mental Requirements:
This position requires a substantial amount of contact with staff,
volunteers and members of the general public.  It also requires the ability
to work in a busy office setting with multiple simultaneous tasks.
 
The position requires strength sufficient to exert force up to 50 pounds
occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds
constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Position
requires walking or standing to a significant degree.  Physical demands
associated with the essential functions include climbing, balancing,
stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, fingering,
talking and/or hearing (ordinary conversation) and seeing (near and far
acuity, depth perception, field of vision, accommodation and color vision).

Equipment typically utilized includes writing implements, keyboards,
documents, files, file cabinets, artifacts, hand tools, laboratory
equipment, cleaning solvents, telephone equipment, cameras, fax machines and
copier machines.  Required are the abilities to apply principles of logic or
scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and
draw valid conclusions; to interpret a variety of technical instructions in
various forms; to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; to
utilize spatial, visual and tactile discrimination; and to establish and
maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and volunteers,
supervisory staff, other organizations and agencies, and the general public.
