At this point, I feel safe in saying we all agree that we would all like to make more money no matter where we are!

Actually, it would take a car service from Queens to make a $50 ride out of
Newark :-)

As a recent refugee from NYC to Chicago, I'd say that the only real
difference in living is the housing costs.  These should not be
underestimated, and a small number of "deals" in the east village aside,
those of us who (gasp) try to raise a family and aspire for such outrageous
luxuries as bedrooms for children wind up living in Brooklyn and Queens --
and even there a family-sized apartment on the edges of a nice community
like Park Slope go for the better part of $2000 a month.

I suspect New Yorkers can get grouchy just from spending half their monthly
income or more on housing a month.

Now can we move on to other topics?  (oops, I guess I still have some New
Yorker in me)
