WARNING: if you decide to go into development work, beware! I spent a couple
years doing development work for non-profit organizations because I liked
the mission of the org. and I had a hard time getting back into the
"program" side (even now my job is about 40% program and 60% admin and
fundraising). Once you start raising money for someone, they are loathe to
let you switch to another department.

By the same token, Development positions are a lot easier to find than any
other non-profit job, and they tend to pay better.
