FULL-TIME POSITION AVAILABLE
Exhibit Hall Manager

The mission of The Tech Museum of Innovation is to serve as an educational
resource that engages people of all ages and backgrounds in exploring and
experiencing technologies affecting their lives, and to inspire young people
to become innovators in developing technologies of the future.

The Exhibit Hall Manager oversees and coordinates the exhibit and floor
program experiences in the museum. The Exhibit Hall Manager supervises and
trains volunteer Exhibit Explainers and works with Volunteer Services,
Engineering, Public Programs and Education staff to ensure each visitor
experience is positive and consistent with The Tech's mission.  The Exhibit
Hall Manager is full-time, exempt position reporting to the Director of
Education.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Train and supervise volunteer Exhibit Explainers to ensure an excellent
visitor experience.  Develop long-term training plan with Volunteer Services
Manager.  Conduct initial training sessions for new volunteers and ongoing
training sessions for all volunteers in content, presentation style and
customer service.
* Create and develop informal and formal visitor programs in cooperation with
Education and Public Programs.
* Coordinate with Exhibit Engineering personnel to assure that all exhibits,
sound and lighting are operational and/or to correct exhibit malfunctions.
Assist with minor exhibit maintenance and provide feedback to Engineering.
Compose temporary exhibit signage consistent with museum guidelines.
* Coordinate tours, programs, demonstrations, and floor assignments with the
Volunteer Shift Leader.
* Maintain current knowledge about The Tech's education and public programs,
membership, special events and related visitor information.  Work with other
departments to maintain attractive, accessible presentation of brochures and
other materials.
* Coordinate regular training and drills for staff and volunteers for the
Injury and Illness Prevention Program of The Tech Museum.  The Museum Manager
is the designated Incident Commander for emergencies and coordinates the
evacuation of the museum in accordance with The Tech's safety manual.
* Coordinate evaluation of the visitor experience and use the feedback to
inform program and exhibit development and improve customer service.
* Participate as a member of the Exhibits and Programs Committee and other
appropriate working committees.
* Responsibilities include working one day each weekend based on a five day
work week.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Degree in science, education or related field and/or equivalent experience
in museum setting working with the public and volunteers.
* High interest in science and technology and ability to work with people of
all ages and backgrounds.
* Commitment to life long learning and The Tech's mission.
* Enthusiasm for work with volunteers.
* Ability to set priorities and work on many projects simultaneously.
* Good public speaking skills and ability to write for exhibit signage.
* Sense of humor, flexibility and willingness to problem solve.
* Willingness to work on weekends and holidays.
