I think we have at least one representative from this
organization on list, and I wanted to pass along
something they did others might emulate.

On the train to Downtown LA this morning, I was
reading the morning local paper when an advertisement
caught my eye. It had a pen and ink illustration of a
complex with the words "Thank you volunteers!: (the
paper misspelled the word volunteers, but that's not
the organization's fault).

In much bigger words at the bottom, it said HOMESTEAD
MUSEUM, and it gave the address, web site, and icon
thereto.

The ad read: "In celebration of National Volunteer
Week, April 18-24, the Homestead Museum salutes these
volunteers for giving generously of their time,
talents, and skills" and then it proceeded to list the
names of its many volunteers.

The ad is about 5-1/2" x 5-1/2" and it really caught
my eye, both for the artwork, but more importantly for
the concept. It's superb to publically acknowledge
those who give of their time and talents, and it's an
admirable marketing idea for the institution. It
rewards/acknowledges those who have given of
themselves, and it also encourages others to do
likewise, all the while making the public more aware
of the museum.

Hats off to whomever placed it. It was a day
brightener! Such a good marketing tool!
