In conjunction with the exhibition An American Sculptor: Seymour
Lipton, currently on view at Penn State's Palmer Museum of Art
through June 4, the Palmer Museum has organized a symposium titled
"Seymour Lipton and Abstract Expressionism" to be held April 7-8,
2000.  Participants include independent scholar Irving Sandler; Lori
Verderame, director, Martin Art Gallery, Muhlenberg College; George
Neubert, director, San Antonio Museum of Art; Sarah Rich, assistant
professor of art history, Penn State; Thomas Podnar, sculpture
conservator, McKay Lodge Fine Arts Conservation Laboratory; and
contemporary artist Luis Jimenez.  Jan Muhlert, director, Palmer
Museum of Art, and William Chiego, director, Marion Koogler McNay
Museum, will serve as moderators.

Admission is free; however, registration is required.  For more

Nittany Lion Inn, is currently on hold for those interested in
attending the symposium through March 7.

The exhibition An American Sculptor: Seymour Lipton was co-organized
by the Palmer Museum of Art and the Marion Koogler McNay Art Museum.
