For a neat destination gallery, head to Davis, California, which is about 15 miles West of Sacramento on Interstate 80.  John Natoulas Gallery on First Street specializes in Bay Area Figurative painting and sculpture, as well as West Coast ceramics.  (www.natsoulas.com) Davis is a great college town with lots of interesting galleries, including a handful on the UC Davis campus.
