Unless they are on your board to "officially" represent other institutions,
I would humbly suggest that it is your organization's interests they are
supposed to represent. IMHO, any board member of your organization that
balks at a policy because of how that policy would affect another
organization they represent may have a conflict of interest. I firmly
believe in the importance of reviewing every incoming or outgoing loan
annually for renewal or termination.  (Erica is exactly right on some of the
reasons why.)

There are a number of great publications that deal with this issue, and I
would start with AAM publications for the standards.  Check out their
website for some good places to start.
