As an art historian and a curator, I am unbelievably offended at the
suggestion that art history classes are useless to art museum professionals,
and that art history programs should be teaching finance, development,
grant-writing, and other professional skills. <<<<

There's a difference between what an art history program should teach and
what a program for art museum professionals should teach. An Art History
Major should make one expert in the history of art. What some posters have
pointed out is that this is not necessarily the best major for someone who
plans to become an art museum administrator. An Art Museum Major needs to
teach art history, but also (according to many recent posts) should include
grant-writing, finance and business classes.
