The University Museums at Iowa State University is seeking candidates for a Communication and Development Coordinator. The Communication and Development Coordinator will develop and implement all aspects of promotion, communication, public relations, brand management and marketing for University Museums.

The Communication and Development Coordinator will serve as a face and voice for the advocacy and promotion of University Museums’ projects, programs, special events and exhibitions as well as a special projects fundraiser. The Communication and Development Coordinator is responsible for developing, managing and implementing University Museums’ marketing and communications plans, including the tools needed for consistent brand communication such as market research. The Communication and Development Coordinator works with the University Museums director in all functions and aspects of fundraising, including major and project gifts from individual and institutional sources, campaign initiatives, membership, donor relations and stewardship, and development operations. In conjunction with the director and the ISU Foundation, the candidate is responsible for securing a broad base of private financial support to realize current and future museums goals.

The successful candidate will possess advanced knowledge in museums and visual arts; high quality writing and editing skills; the ability to interact professionally; and the ability to supervise volunteers, interns and student workers. This position will staff University Museums’ facilities on campus, events, and programs when needed including some nights and weekends. The duties of this position require local, regional and infrequent national travel. Must have and maintain a valid U.S. state driver’s license and the ability to be authorized to drive University vehicles.

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience. Degree in art, communications, journalism, marketing, humanities or related field.

Preferred Education and Experience: Masters of Arts degree, in art, communications, journalism, marketing, humanities or related field; Additional years of work experience; Public relations experience; Brand management experience; Experience in promotions; Donor management and/or fund raising experience; Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator and PhotoShop); Experience maintaining and updating websites, Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter;

Some area/regional travel required. Occasional weekend hours and evening hours.
