Another source for graphic advertising literature is the Strong
Museum, Rochester, NY ( a sort of mini-Smithsonian devoted to
American material culture):  about 3 yrs. ago they organized an
exhibition on advertising.  Also, I seem to recall a reference to a
Museum of Advertising Art---you might contact the trade journal,
"Advertising Age" in NY for information.
