We estimate that we have approximately 6% of our collection on exhibit at
any given time. HOWEVER, we have been keeping track of all uses of the
collection this year, including classes and programs, loans to other
muesums, distance learning, Museum Loan Network, digitizing for future web
site and internal gallery network development, and the number becomes
much, much higer. We estimate that in 1997 approximately 20,000 objects
from our permanent collection of 105,000, plus the countless numbers of
educaction collection, will be used in in some educational capacity.
