Job Description
Exhibit Hall Coordinator

The Tech Museum of Innovation is an educational resource established to
engage people of all ages and backgrounds in exploring and experiencing
technologies affecting their lives and to inspire the young to become
innovators in the technologies of the future.

The Tech needs Exhibit Hall Coordinators to oversee and coordinate exhibit
and floor program experiences throughout our new building.  We are seeking
creative, people-oriented individuals who have a high-interest and/or
background in science, technology and learning to ensure that The Tech’s
visitors enjoy inspiring, educational experiences in our spectacular new
exhibit galleries. Primary emphasis is on delivering excellent and relevant
customer service for the museum’s diverse audience. We are currently
seeking qualified candidates to fill three full-time openings and four
part-time openings.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Master the content of one of our four galleries: Innovation, Exploration,
Life Tech, or Communications.
-Participate in the preparation and training needed to open your gallery to
the public.
-Implement a variety of planned floor programs and demonstrations with the
assistance of volunteers and other staff.
-Work with the public in the gallery, providing excellent customer service.
-Manage volunteers and staff working in the exhibit hall on a daily basis.
-Work with Engineering staff to assure that all exhibits, electronics and
lighting in the exhibit hall are functioning properly.
-Keep up to date about The Tech's educational programs, membership program,
special events and related visitor information.
-Work with other departments to test and evaluate possible new exhibits.
-Create new programs in science and technology with support from the
technical staff and outside experts.
-Participate in the implementation of a long-term training plan for
volunteers, including the development of written materials.
-Coordinate regular safety training and drills for staff and volunteers.
-Assist with the collection of visitor feedback and use it to improve
customer service.
-Responsibilities include working one day each weekend.
-Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
-High interest in science and technology.
-Experience in working with the public.
-Experience in volunteering, and/or working with volunteers.
-Excellent public speaking, communications and presentation skills.
-Experience in education or training.
-Degree in science, communication, education or related field, or
equivalent experience.
-Commitment to The Tech's mission and a passion for working with people.
-Ability to set priorities and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
-Energetic, dynamic and creative individual who welcomes challenges.
-Fluency in a second language is valued.
-Willingness to work on weekends and holidays.
