JOB OPENING
NELSON-ATKINS MUSEUM OF ART

TITLE:  ASSISTANT PREPARATOR OF INSTALLATION

DUTIES:  Assist with the transportation, installation and de-installation
of all artwork for loan and permanent exhibitions both inside the museum
and on the museum grounds.  Assist with the maintenance of exhibition
spaces, prep areas and storage spaces.  Will be required to dust, clean
glass, change lights and assist in pest monitoring.

REQUIREMENTS:  Prefer a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, Art History or other
related field.  Minimum one year experience as a preparator in a museum,
gallery, or commercial fine art service company.  Must be able to make easy
transition from working with delicate objects to monumental sculpture to
truck loading/unloading.  Must be able to take part in some strenuous
lifting and moving activities.  Must have some mechanical and carpentry
skills, with good mental and physical dexterity.  Must be able to work
closely and flexibly with a number of various departments as well as
numerous vendors.  Must have good communication and organizational skills
and have the ability to juggle multiple priorities and competing projects
to meet established deadlines.  Must be safety conscious.
