Volunteer Coordinator
New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science
Albuquerque, NM

The New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science seeks an experienced
individual to coordinate, administer, and supervise all volunteers and
volunteer services at the museum. The successful candidate will recruit and
place qualified volunteers throughout the museum; schedule and monitor
exhibit hall docents; stay in touch with volunteers on a regular basis;
establish and monitor standards for docent performance; maintain the
database of volunteer information and track volunteer service hours and
awards; organize training and continuing education for museum volunteers;
plan volunteer recognition awards and events; and develop and oversee the
budget to run the Office of Volunteer Services. Experience in working
successfully with volunteers and senior citizens; strong organizational
skills; and excellent "people skills" are a plus.  Salary Range: $20,401 -
$30,601/yr.  This is a permanent full-time job with the state of New Mexico
in the job category of Manager 2.

Minimum Qualifications:  High School graduation or GED and any combination
of college education and experience related to volunteers or volunteer
management equivalent to six (6) years, one of which must have been
supervisory.  Good knowledge of administrative and supervisory techniques,
of methods used to monitor and evaluate programs, of planning, programming
and fiscal management.  Ability to manage a program, to exercise good
judgment in evaluating situations, and to present ideas effectively both
orally and in writing.
