Ohio Historical Society To Hold Audition For New Theatre Program
Columbus -- Ohio- On Saturday, July 15 at 10 a.m., the newly formed Ohio
Historical Society Museum Theatre Program will be holding an open general
audition at the Ohio Historical Society in Columbus for its upcoming theatre
shows.
The program is looking for people of all ages and races to participate in a
wide variety of theatrical events, which will be held at the Ohio Historical
Center and the adjacent Ohio Village. The auditions are for both paid and
volunteer positions. Those interested should bring a photo of themselves
(head shot), a resume (if available) and a prepared audition piece. The
audition will include readings and improvisation.
Original monologues and theme performances based upon primary sources will
become part of the museum's regular exhibitions. There will also be
after-hours and special ticketed events. Productions will include plays
written by Ohioans, shows about events and people related to Ohio, and even
celebrations of Ohio's history of the performing arts.
Scheduled upcoming performances include a live adaption of "The Legend Of
Sleepy Hollow," Columbus playwright Sheila K. Middlebrook's "Freedom, Sweet
As Suguh In M'Tee," Center Stage's "Don't You Dare Cry For Me," and the
Lawyer's Performance Ensemble's presentation of "The Andersonville Trial."

Ohio Historical Society Needs Addy Tour Guides
Columbus -- Ohio- The Ohio Historical Society's Ohio Village is looking for
actors of African-American descent to become Addy Tour Guides. This job
consists of the conducting of a themed, interactive tour entitled "Addy at
Ohio Village."
This program is a joint collaboration between the Ohio Historical Society
and The Pleasant Company, the creator of the American Girls Collection and
the American Girls Museum Program. The program focuses on children and
accompanying adults.
The Addy Tour Guide assumes the role of an escaped slave and recounts
his/her escape to freedom on the Underground Railroad while leading the
program participants on a specialized tour of the Ohio Village. Costumed in
appropriate period-clothing, the Guide will provide an orientation to the
program, conduct an interactive hands-on tour through the Ohio Village, and
role-play with other staff members.
