To all museums, science centers, etc. with a giant screen theater
associated with your facility,

I am with the Utah Science Center Authority which has been given
the task, by the Utah Legislature, to create a world class science center
in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Our Science/Art Center will be a hands-on fully interactive third
generation science center. This refers to the programatic intergration of all the
classic scientific disciplines with the arts and humanities. Along with
an exhibit pavilion there will be a new home for the Hansen Planetarium
and a giant screen theater. We would be pleased to share more about our
plans but first we need some help.
We are well into the planning for our facility and are neaaring a
decision on the giant screen theater. We would appreciate hearing about
your experience with such theaters. Specifically:
        1. What system do you have?
                a) IMAX
                b) OMNIMAX
                c) IWERKS 1570
                d) IWERKS 1570 DOME
                e) WORLD ODYSSEY ULTRA 70
        2.Size of theater.
                a) Seating Capacity.
                b) Screen size.
        3. System Experience.
                a) Reliability
                b) Maintenance Issues, costs, problems,etc.
                c) Other experience you would like to share.
        4. Attendance
                a) Number(ave.) of showings per day,week,year.
                b) Attendance(average) per day, week, year.
        5. Admission prices and breakdown.
        6. Other relavent information, lessons learned, etc.
        7. Advice? Contact person we can call and phone number.
Any information you can provide to these questions will be helpful and
very much appreciated.
We know this is a lot of information to request, but it will be very
helpful to us and perhaps others in deciding which system to choose.
We are willing to share the results of this request and our own experience
with anyone who responds with either information or a request for the
results of this inquiry. Thank you.
