Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator

Responsibilities:  Creates and manages a communications plan for the Museum.
Implements media strategy to meet communications goals.  Generates all press
releases; plans and executes PSAs, media sponsorships and special
promotions.  Develops and implements integrated marketing plan to increase
earned income through group sales, summer camp, general admissions, tourism,
birthday parties, camp-ins, special events, and other initiatives.  Develops
and operates with a sales plan.  Develops print pieces, including brochures
and a quarterly newsletter.  Coordinates periodic market research to assist
in effective marketing.  Reports to the Executive Director.  Supervises
interns and volunteers for media relations, marketing visitor and market
research.  (FT)

Qualifications:  Excellent communication and analytical skills, sales and
marketing expertise and established media relations required.  Knowledge of
school, youth, and family markets and the appropriate communication vehicles
to reach these.  Familiarity with tourism and group market industries.
Ability to develop and manage comprehensive marketing and public relations
strategy, sales plan, and budget.  Strong word processing and spreadsheet
computer capabilities required.  Undergraduate degree and 2 years sales,
marketing, public relations experience required.

Museum Education
Coordinator of Public and School Programs

Coordinates development, implementation, and evaluation of all public and
school programs.  Participates in new museum planning.  Manages budget,
develops program materials and publications, cultivates staff and community
resources, and negotiates all presenter contracts.  Supervises part-time
museum educators, manages Camp-Ins and computer workshops.

Excellent written/verbal communication, organizational, managerial,
budgeting and computer skills and experience required.  Must be highly
creative, highly motivated, and resourceful.  Undergraduate degree in
education with emphasis in elementary education, art, science, or museum
studies plus two years experience in museum or closely related field required.
