Kovel's books can be very useful sources of information.  They also
have a newsletter on collecting, antiques, etc.  You should remember
that they are not working in a museum environment and that some of
their information may be more suitable for home use, rather than in a
museum setting.  I seem to remember a recipe for removing the green
stuff from Barbie doll ears that I suspected a conservator might not approve.
Their books can come in very handy.
