POSITION: RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
DIRECTOR/CURATOR, THE GODWIN-TERNBACH MUSEUM
AT QUEENS COLLEGE

The Director/Curator acts as the chief administrator and curator of
the Godwin-Ternbach Museum at Queens College.  The
Director/Curator is responsible to the Museum Board of Trustees,
and reports to the Dean of Arts and Humanities.  The Museum
supports the educational mission of the College and serves as a
cultural resource for the College community and for the public at
large.  Located in a modern, renovated facility, its collection
currently includes over 2,500 works of art in all media, from ancient
to
modern times.  The collections are used in teaching, exhibitions,
and a variety of outreach programs to the ethnically diverse student
body, community and schools.

DUTIES:

Manages the permanent collection (arrangement, preservation,
documentation, display of art works);
Integrates the Museum into the life of the College (including the
curricula of the Departments of Art and Art Education) and
community;
Presents exhibitions, drawing on the Museumıs collections and
loans (development, curating, preparation, design, installation);
Plans and implements programs;
Plans and coordinates publicity;
Carries out administrative responsibilities, maintains records,
manages the budget;
Assists researchers;
Hires, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers;
Develops the Museumıs financial base (fund raising, grant writing);
Works with the Board of Trustees and with the College to develop
the Board and the resources of the Museum;
Performs other duties as directed by the Board.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Appropriate doctoral degree;
Curatorial experience;
Ability to teach;
Dynamic working knowledge of art;
Strong leadership and organizational abilities;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

SALARY:
Range:   $27,575 - $81,924
(depending upon qualifications and experience), full benefits.
This is a full-time position.
