As a conservator, my contract says that I may use photos and other
documentation, for my use , as the conservator, but only in terms of
research publications. If the photos were to used for pubilcation in a
newspaper, lets say,  I must have the clients permission.
The person in question is out of line as many photos can be considered
copywrited by the institution who performed the treatment.
