Yes, true. We do not have too many E-mail addresses posted on our WebPages
that we need to worry about that, but you are absolutely right, our E-mail
addresses (as you can see from mine) are our last name and first initial. I
actually am quite weary of people knowing my first and last name because of
past experiences like some of the other folks mentioned on the list. When I
place an ad in our newspaper for available positions for which I am hiring,
I will not put my name or only my first name. I don't think anyone needs to
know it, especially with frontline staff and general public just coming in
to visit for a day.

Just to throw another monkey wrench into the name badge string.
What about museum directories on the internet that list email addresses?
(If you really want to consider an uncontrolled audience.)
In most cases with professional email addresses everyone has some
combination of first and  last name and/or initials in their address.
Working for a university, we are also listed in the university
directory.
It really permits would be stalkers easy access to information.
