Dear Colleagues:

Recognizing that different projects are funded differently and appreciating
that expertise and and even fame are factors in private and independent
negotiations, we are nevertheless trying to gather information to help
develop in-house standards for compensating scholars who contribute to our
publications, especially exhibition catalogues, and similar projects.

I would appreciate input from any of you regarding compensation. No
individual names are desired, but type of institution and institutional
budgets would be helpful. All information will be handled with
discretion.

If you know of another list whose participants might be helpful, please
forward this inquiry. If requested, I would be happy to forward the
averages when they are compiled.
