Well I didn't want to enter this line but.......anyone who feels NJ
(Government) cares about its historic sites, please visit Batso Village, our
Governor just released millions in grants to many historic sites( god bless
him) but he forgets about the ones he ultimately supervises.

Ouch! That hurt. I work for a "for profit" CRM firm, and we do care about
preservation of our national and privately held cultural resources.
Sometimes our clients think that they have met the enemy and we are that
enemy because we do believe in preservation!

Interesting question though - why do the archaeologists need to be
Government Employees (bureaucrats)? It would seem to make much more
sense for these services to be privatized, because on the whole, the
work isn't really "governmental".

The Park Service archaeologists need to be government employees for the
simple reason that the archaeological resources they are protecting are
on government property. Also, federal archaeologists are very dedicated
to protecting these cultural resources, not searching for profits that
many (not all) for-profit consulting (privatized) environmental firms
would do.
