Lecture for Teachers at the Massachusetts Archives

Secretary of the Commonwealth William Francis Galvin announced today the
October talk in the Massachusetts Archives and Commonwealth Museum's fall
lecture series for teachers.   Stephen Kenney's talk, "Through the Eyes of
Bay Staters: Massachusetts' Experience in the Civil War," will be at 10:30
a.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2001, at the Massachusetts Archives building
on Columbia Point in Dorchester (220 Morrissey Boulevard, Boston, MA 02125).

This program, designed for middle school students, looks at the stories
behind the main events of the war through letters, diaries, and documents in
the Massachusetts Archives.   Teachers will be able to preview the program
for their classrooms as well as make suggestions   to help the Archives
improve it.

Stephen Kenney is a staff member at the Massachusetts Archives.  He holds a
Ph.D. in political science and has taught history at the college level.

The program is free and open to the public. Parking is free, and the
building is handicapped accessible.  For additional information or a
