CAC 27th Annual
Conference and Workshop

The Canadian Association for Conservation of Cultural Property will hold its
27th Annual Conference and Workshop in Halifax, Nova Scotia, from May 8th to
13th, 2001.

Papers are invited on all aspects of conservation and conservation science of
museum, archival, and fine art collections. Posters and video presentations are
also welcome. The program will include discussion groups, and a small trade
fair of digital photography equipment. We invite you to sample our Maritime
hospitality and the beauty of historic Halifax.

Abstracts of 300 to 500 words for oral presentations of 20 minutes in length
are requested. Please include the title of the presentation, the names, mailing
addresses, phone and fax numbers, and e-mail addresses of the authors and an
indication of who the presenting author will be. E-mail submissions are
preferred. Submissions on disk should be in ascii, WordPerfect, or Microsoft
Word format. Please send abstract submissions to Colleen Day, Parks Canada
Atlantic Service Centre, 50 Raddall, Unit #1, Dartmouth, N.S. B3B 1T2,(902)

(613) 993-2125 E-mail [log in to unmask], or [log in to unmask] The
deadline for submissions is December 31, 2000.

A training workshop, "Developments in Documentary Photography" will be held
starting on May 8, 2001. Quality documentation is one of the cornerstones of
the conservation profession. In this workshop, basic documentary photography
techniques will be revisited and the pros and cons of different cameras and
equipment will be discussed. Digital photography is still a relatively new
field and there are many misconceptions about what the technology can and
cannot do as a documentary tool. The pros and cons of different digital
cameras, an overview of their file storage capabilities, and some intended uses
of digital images will be addressed. The format of the workshop will be a
combination of short lectures and hands-on sessions.

Ciad mile failte!
