OK, you guys, listen up:
If you are a "professional staff member or experienced volunteer in
museums of historical organizations" you have the opportunity to apply
for the 25th annual Winedale Museum Seminar on Administration and
Interpretation to be held 3-13 November at the Winedale Historical Center
in Fayette County, Texas. This seminar allows you to:
1) live in a dorm with 19 of your collegues
2) eat fabulous country-German food
3) work from dawn to well after dark for 10 days
4) be exposed to (challenged by) a faculty of 20 museum professionals
5) work on REAL museum problems and opportunities
6) make some lasting and important contacts
            and like that
Cost is $500, which includes everything except your travel to and from.
To get your very own application, contact Kit Neumann, Texas Historical
Commision, P.O. Box 12276, Austin 78711; 512/463-5756, FAX 475-4872.
Deadline is 20 Sept, so you have plenty of time.
Lots of folks have gone through the program in the last 24 years.
There's probably one at your institution--ask about it.
I think it's a terrific program. The fact that I have been on the
faculty since before dirt has nothing to do with my opinion. Check it
out; you'll be glad you did. Questions to Kit (address above) or to me
(address below). David
