Someone brought to my attention they were duped into
clicking on a virus that appeared to come from me.
The list has been made aware over time that there is
someone who is so mentally unstable as to have stalked
me online for a couple of years as a result of my
participation on this list. It got so bad that, more
than a year ago, I reported the incidents to the FBI.

I'm not sure of the person's exact motives. It may be
that the pro bono work I do threatens their money
making ventures here on list. It could be that they
just don't like me as a person, as an American, or as
a strong-minded woman. I don't know the reason. At
this point, I simply don't care.

What I do care about is you. They are now trying to
undermine my credibility with the list by sending out
viruses to members of this list with a myriad of
titles. With a straight virus, the title is usually
the same. It doesn't morph a lot. An "Hello :)" is
probably a virus. But this bugger is quite deceitful
and tries his damnedest (I presume it's a him) to lure
me and others into the path of computer harm. I get
them with my name on them (as though to say look what
I'm doing to you and your reputation), and I also get
them with the Museum-L address trying to tell me there
are changes to the rules of this list.

First and foremost, I keep my virus protections up on
whatever computer I am working. Second, I don't click
on attachments that are unsolicited. Finally, I don't
send them out without permission either. In fact I
almost never send them.

I figure whomever is doing this must be mentally ill.
One should feel sorry for them and their shortcomings
if they have nothing more than to try to do harm in
this way. In any event, three things need to happen:

1) I'm not leaving this list until I want to or John
wants me to.

2) I'm not giving up my pro bono work on your behalf.

3) You need to NOT click on notes with attachments
that appear to be coming from me. The ones without
attachments should be presumed safe, though it's
important that you, too, keep your virus protections
up to date.

This is an old, sad story with a different twist. I'm
sorry to have to raise the flag, but good people are
getting hurt in the process, and I feel compelled to
speak up.

P.S. Dear Mr. Idiot With a Vengeance. If your issue
with me is because I'm an American, hell, I didn't
vote for the guy in the White House in either of the
last two elections and there are precious few--if
any--of his policies I support(ed). If you've got a
problem with American politics, go talk to him, or
find some Republican to have a Jones on. You're way
out of line here, Dude! I'm a dismayed Democrat!
