Lead Presenter

Job Opportunity Summary

Position:
Under direction, the Lead Presenter is responsible for daily presentation
of exhibit education programs and assisting in the daily management and
implementation of high quality, innovative and interactive live programming
in the exhibitions of the California Science Center.

Duties:

* Present interactive educational programs on the floor of the California
Science Center for reserved groups and the general public on a daily basis;

* Assist in the coordination of exhibit education programs, staff and
volunteers in cooperation with and in the absence of the Exhibit Programs
Coordinator;

* Assist with the training program for exhibit education programs staff and
volunteers;

* Assist with reserved group logistics including greeting and assignments
to appropriate presenters and volunteers;

* Present programs and represent the education department at special events
and receptions;

* Assist in prototyping new exhibit education programs;

* Conduct elements of the evaluation of programs and materials;

* Prepare materials for use in the various exhibit programs;

* Report all materials, equipment, cleaning and safety needs to the Exhibit
Programs Coordinator;

* Collaborate with all other Science Center staff;

* Other duties as assigned by the Exhibits Programs Manager.

Minimum Requirements:

* College degree in science, education or related field preferred;

* Experience in teaching or working with the public in a museum, informal
educational or public setting;

* Supervisory and administrative experience required;

* Excellent oral and written communication skills;

* Bilingual fluency in Spanish desirable;

* Effective interpersonal skills with diverse audiences;

* Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends, holidays and
evenings.
