Head of Public Relations.  The new 175,000 sf Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, opening in April 2001, will include an IMAX® theater, Special Effects and storytelling Theater, Café, Store, Temporary Exhibit Gallery (7,000sf), and 34,000 sf of media, interactive, immersive and traditional exhibit experiences.  Start-up responsibilities include: working directly with a PR/Media Relations firm contracted by the SPB to design and implement the Museum's opening campaign.  Ongoing responsibilities include: marketing and public relations for the Museum and the IMAX® theater; market research; advertising and promotions; event sponsorships; and group and facility rental sales.  Required qualifications are: a Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or related field; Six years of increasingly responsible experience formulating, executing and evaluating marketing, public relations, and communications campaigns in the  non-profit, hospitality or related industries; demonstrated planning, organizational and communication skills; demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective internal and external working relationships, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines, and to work well with others in a team situation; knowledge of desktop publishing. Prefer experience with high profile and high visitation institutions, preferably for a museum or related non-profit; experience with start-up campaigns; established relationships with major Texas media and public relations network; familiarity with interpretation of Texas history in a public forum.
