In a previous posting, Brian asked for information regarding conferences for
starting up a science / children's museum. The Association of Youth Museums
has just established a new (and its first) permanent office in Washington
D.C. The recently hired director of AYM is Janet Rice Elman. The
Association's offices are located at:
   1775 K Street, NW
   Suite 595
   Washington, DC 20006
    phone: 202-466-4144
    fax: 202-466-4233

AYM's annual meeting is in Philadelphia from May 18-20, 1995 (this
immediately precedes the AAM Annual Meeting). Generally a 1/2 session for
start-up museums is held the day before the conference officially begins.

Another source of information is the Association of Science-Technology
Centers at:
   1025 Vermont Avenue
   Suite 500
   Washington, DC 20005-3515
    phone: 202-783-7200

The ASTC conference is being held in Portland, Oregon from October 15-18,
1994.

I hope this information is of some help to you. If you have any questions
