Good Morning, Listers:

I write to introduce myself and my work to you.
I am hoping to reach education departments here.

As part of my affiliation as Research Associate
with the Fairbank Center at Harvard University this
year, I am developing educational materials from
several fieldwork projects I conducted in China 1995-97.
This includes documentary films, exhibits, and
lectures, as well as scholarly papers.

I lived in Chengdu from 1995 to 1997 as Visiting
Professor, Music Composition and Musicology, at
Sichuan Conservatory of Music. Beyond my teaching
responsibilities, I conducted a number of research
projects, both urban and rural, on Sichuan topics.

My fieldwork included collecting the street songs
as well taking a look at the emerging bar/nightclub
scene at that time. A particular favorite topic for
me remains the composer students, particularly
female, and their lives/work. My fieldwork in the
Sichuan villages was funded with a grant from the
Asian Cultural Council and focused on the
shamans of the Qiangzu people.

Thank you so much.
