DEMHIST, ICOM's International Committee for Historic House Museums,
addresses exactly these issues, and many more, which are pertinent to the
special area of historic house museums. We hope you join as a voting member,
and participate actively in order to enrich us all. Please contact your
national ICOM headquarters for membership. If you do not have this
information already, you may find it on ICOM's central web site:
http://www.icom.org

The Acts of the Genova (2000) DEMHIST conference are available, and would be
of great help to you. The Acts of the Barcelona conference (2001) will be
coming out in the next couple of months. The upcoming conference (14-16
October 2002) in Amsterdam will be about this very topic from a number of
points of view (presentation, methodology, practical): "Historic House
Museums as a Witness of National and Local Identities." Information about
the final program and travel details will be available shortly.

Please contact DEMHIST for further information: [log in to unmask]

By the way, there also is a discussion list dedicated to historic house
museums which might be of help. Please contact Heather Parmenter:

Hope this has been helpful, best regards, Star
