Public Programs Assistants:  The Homestead Museum, a
six-acre historic site in eastern Los Angeles County, has
reopened its search for two full-time Public Programs
Assistants.  Both positions will involve assisting in the
development and coordination of public programs including
special events, educational programs, visitor services,
and tours.  In addition to these responsibilities, one
Public Programs Assistant will work in the areas of tour
and volunteer scheduling, site use, promotional
activities, and the museum store.  The other Public
Programs Assistant also will work in the areas of school
programming, volunteer recruitment, and docent training.
 Candidates for both positions must have a bachelor's
degree in history, museum studies, or equivalent; show a
demonstrated career interest in museums; have excellent
writing, speaking, interpersonal, and organizational
skills; have experience with major computer software
programs; and hold a valid US driver's license.
Preference will be given to candidates who have a
master's degree in history, museum studies, or
equivalent; are fluent in Spanish or a Chinese dialect;
and have experience in event planning, retail store
management, graphic design, teaching and curriculum
development, or volunteer management.  Salary:
$12.05/hour.  Excellent benefit package includes major
medical, dental, and vision insurance as well as a
