The University of Oklahoma's College of Liberal
Studies offers fully accredited, interdisciplinary
Bachelor's and Master's degrees earned through a
combination of seminars and independent study .

Every once in a while we get requests for information
about "on-line degree programs" or "off-campus
degree programs". While we DO NOT offer an "on-line
degree program", our non-traditional "external degree
programs" offer much of the same convenience. By
spending a total of 35 days in on-campus seminars,
students complete the majority of their degree studies
while carrying out their home-based daily routines.

For museum professionals we offer a special
Master's degree: The Master of Liberal Studies
with Museum Emphasis. If you are working in a museum,
gallery, historical society, zoo, or other museum-related
facility, the Master of Liberal Studies with Museum Emphasis
may offer the very mid-career educational opportunity you've
been seeking.

The MLS/ME is a curricular alternative within the
framework of the basic MLS program which offers a
non-traditional graduate degree. The MLS/ME is not a
professional museum studies program; rather, it is an
academic program which addresses common museology
issues and content from philosophical and theoretical
perspectives. It is flexible, self-paced, and with an individually
designed subject area component. The program directors are
museum professionals experienced both in museum
administration and education.

Students in the program represent museums from all over the
country. They attend only three seminars at the University of
Oklahoma campus: 1) MLS/ME Introductory Seminar (2 wks)
2) Colloquium (3 wks) 3) Advanced Seminar (2 wks).
Their Directed Study component is supervise by OU faculty
and the museology directors. The Advanced Study or thesis
preparation is carried under the direction of an OU faculty
committee in the studentUs chosen academic area of
concentration.

The next two MLS/ME Introductory Seminars are:

     March 20-30, 1995
     October 23-November 2, 1995
