Hello Randi Sue Smith et al.:

My suggestion (if the environment is condusive and the
Board/volunteers not a hostile bunch):

Propose that Board members not be permitted to volunteer in
other capacities. The reasoning is that Board members make
decisions that affect volunteer activities - and,
presumably, volunteer 'rewards'. Therefore, Board members
who volunteer in other capacities are in a "conflict of
interest" situation. Such a conflict of interest is not in
the best interest of the museum, who (to reslove the
conflict) must suffer the loss of either the Board or
volunteer involvement of that individual.

Just my opinion . . . but much depends upon the environment.

Sincerely,

Jay Heuman, Visitor & Volunteer Services Coordinator
